ok the Kerry campaign was calling people to ask if they knew where their
precinct was and if the person had any questions. Large numbers of people did
not know where their precinct was and therefore you told them. Many many people
where given misinformation about polling places and hours of operation and so
on, not by the Kerry campaign, and the people who did not vote early and tried
to vote on election day on their way to work or on their way home where in many
cases shut out by this tactic. You can say they should have voted early, but
why should they have to?

The challenges, well, that is where a poll-watcher says he does not think a
given voter is eligible to vote. Overwhelmingly challenged voters in
Albuquerque were in the Hispanic precincts. The NM Kerry campaign was being run
by a group of airheads who had decided that the Hispanic vote was in the bag
(not) and so there were no Democratic pollwatchers over there. We had a LOT of
calls about such things.

Now, challenged voters could file a provisional ballot, but these were the
ballots that disappeared or were invalidated, along with the absentee ballots
filed by the yuppies who wanted to make sure there was a paper trail for their
vote, ie the people who felt that Bush stole the previous election, who
presumably were NOT republicans.

By the way, attempts at a recount were foiled by a requirement that a million
some dollars be paid in advance towards the cost of the recount -- the Green
Party and I think the Libertarians took that one to court and won, but only
recently, years too late to matter.

Just rememeber though, every vote counts ;)
