So what do you want me to have done 5 years ago? For 20 years I have been
lobbying for wetland restoration. If YOUR demand for gas did not destroy the
wetlands surrounding New Orleans, the damage caused by Katrina would have been
significantly less.

We, as residents of New Orleans, have known the danger. We have been asking
for the help we need to restore the wetlands. This started when I was in high
school 20+ years ago. But the rest of the country turned away because it was
our problem, not thiers.

GUESS WHAT GUYS! In 5 years it will be your problem. Seventeen percent of the
domestic oil production is in danger of being washed away tomorrow. Yes,
tomorrow, not next year or next decade. Just think how expensive a gallon of
gas will be in a year if that happens. How expensive will it be in 5 years
with no action?

And now, Louisiana has a solution. Give us a fair share of the offshore oil
and gas royalties, like every other state that allows offshore drilling, and we
can solve the wetlands problem ourselves. We know the solution, we know the
technology needed and we have the people to make it happen. We just need the
money to fund it.

If you think we should have moved because of the flooding, then stick you SUV
up your ass. Many of our families have been here since before your family left
Europe. We have lived with the problem that your demand for oil created.
