BTW:

Comparing MMA to street fighting is inaccurate. MMA is still a combat sport,
there are rules that put the safety of the fighter as paramount over
anything else.

MMA was created to give practioners of different styles a forum to fight in
a no holds barred format. Before the advent of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
fighters, it was the strikers that dominated. One of the fastest knockouts
in MMA history was in a UFC ring by a taekwondo fighter, crossed trained in
Muay Thai. He faked with an axe kick to the head, his opponent bought it and
he knocked him out with a devastating straight right hand. I believe the
total time was 35.5 seconds

There is only one rule in self defense, do what you have to do to get
yourself out of the situation you're in.

I think all of Tae Kwon Do is a scam in the fact that it makes you think you
can defend yourself on the street. I have not seen a fighter trained in Tae
Kwon Do compete in any of the cage fighting circuits, cage fighting which
for the most part (minus the rules) mimics what will happen if you do get
caught up in a real fight. Taw Kwon Do is more of a stand up fighting where
other styles such as Akido, Kenpo, or Jujitsu are for closer quarters and
or on the ground fighting. I think if you ever have to fight an experienced
fighter on the street you may be in for a rude awakening if you have only
learned Taw Kwon Do.
