You have no ideas, just complaints. Gotta love the Libertarians! As much as the US would love to see all the world's dictators give up their evil totalitarian ways, we can't save everyone. Our attention is focused on the Middle East because people from that part of the world have spent the better part of fourty years shooting, hijacking, kidnapping, and bombing our citizens. It's un-fucking believeable that it took us this long to get hip to the fact that the radical Islamists want to kill us and destroy our civilization. Mid-East experts spent the better part of the 90's trying to explain the danger to us, but we didn't listen. Only after 9/11 did people understand what was going on. How easily people forget.
Iran and North Korea, as you well know, have been pursuing missile technology and nuclear weapons for twenty years. All Bush did was call them on it. BTW, your other thread about the Chalabi as Iranian spy conspiracy theory totally undermines your whole argument here. If we had not invaded Iraq, so the conspiracy theory would go, the Iranians would have thought of something else to try to pull us into a trap. Sooner or later they will get nuclear weapons, unless the Israelis or the US stops them. Most of the rest of the world (minus our friends, who know who they are) is a bunch of chickens. The UN will do with Iran exactly what they have done with North Korea- diddly squat. So either we have the resolve to kick the hell out of these bastards, or we just give up and wait for a nuclear weapon to go off in New York.
