Well, only if the frame of the building held. Everything I've read and seen
claims that the Tower only had an external frame, there was no internal frame,
and the collapse occurred because the center of the building couldn't withstand
the forces above it because of the loss of the structural integrity, which
caused the building to collapse from the center, and the force of the collapse
of the center brought the steel frame down.

I'm not a structural engineer but that makes sense to me.

According to a Discover Channel show, the tower had an internal and external
frame, they where a pair of concentric rings.

The inner support columns where tied to the outer support columns with cross
members that also formed the sub-strait of the floors. It is these that
failed. They did not fail from the collision, but from the subsequent jet fuel
fire. They had a spray on fire retardant, but nobody had considered the case
of them being hit by 10's of thousands pound grenades. The explosion and
shrapnel of the plane collisions blew off the fire retardant; decreasing the
time the cross supports could resist the fire.
