The Hezbollah-Israel war was 100% engineered by Iran as a message to
America:"Hey, we can start these wars in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria,
Afghanistan, etc, any time we want. Continue to feck with us and we
will."

The truth of Iraq is this:

(1.) The Pentagon has never committed to a war. E.g., in WWII we
combat prototyped and delivered new tanks once per year or more. In
Iraq we're not set to deploy a new troop carrier until 2012 despite
the fact that IEDs are tearing Hummers and their occupants apart.

(2.) We don't have the troops we need to protect Iraqis. When that
happens they turn to militias. Militias fight each other and then
you've got open civil war.

(3.) Even if we had more troops it's militarily impossible to win an
insurgency because insurgents don't need to win, just not lose. Only
a political solution will solve the problem.
