Well, no...

the dvd player came with an HDMI cable, so I just figured it was the best
connection.  I set the DVD player to play back at 1080 and it worked, looks
good, etc.  Are you saying that it would work just as good if I just went
out and bought an s-video cable?

I'm kinda new to this whole home theater thing.  Finally have enough money
to throw at it.

So, suggestions are welcome.
