What drives me nuts are people in the hospitality industry who feel they DESERVE a 20% tip and do NOTHING to try and earn it. When I sit down for a meal, your tiop starts out at 15%, the server then controls whether it goes up or down from there. Its easy to bump it to 20%, refill my soda and bring me my food when its hot. I also cannot stand when people I dine with make excuses for poor service such as, 'It's busy', 'Maybe they are just having a bad day', neither of which is my concern. I am paying for a meal and expect it to be served properly.
Whatever happened to the standard 15% tip? My theory is that people got too stupid to do the math for 15% so they make it easy and give 20%. Another standard that has gone away, the tip used to be based on the cost of the meal BEFORE any taxes are added -- Scott Stroz ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Create robust enterprise, web RIAs.
