I think so too. I just can't see how this could survive, but I'm not as astute as some of my fellow colleagues on these matters. I just know that it stinks. What I think has been lost on this topic is that we as a people are quite complacent on this issue. The system is not what's wrong, it's those that abuse it that are wrong. We need to get rid of these clowns that sell themselves to their contributors and not represent their constituents. If I get elected on a conservationist environmental policy and then accept a boatload of money from environmental groups and then start voting for preservationist legislation, then that would be an example of corruption. Same thing if I were in favor of more governmental oversight/regulation on businesses and then voted down such measures after filling my coffers with corporate money. Unfortunately, we live in an age where the word of law is far more important than the spirit of it. But that's just me.

I shouldn't have my rights taken away because some > corrupt politicos can't keep their hands out of the cookie jar. As I said, I don't like it... I figure it'll go the way of Prohibition, only I'm willing to let the Supreme Court make that call. It does smack of slamming large amounts of tape over everyone's mouth, doesn't it?
