Microsoft should've started migrating away from being an OS/Desktop company years ago but it's just not in their DNA to be creative whereas that's really all Apple is about. So, if you accept the fact that your company has zero artistic talent, why not try to steal some creativity from your competitors? The sad thing is, if MS did things right, they'd have Apple as a key strategic partner: focus on the back-end workhorse apps and let Apple own the front end. Problem there is that everyone knows that the future is the consumer and MS just can't give up the dream that they can fill that need better than others.
