I'm talking about the hardware more than the software. With a Mac I have three options for a desktop, the Mini, the iMac, and MacPro. With windows I have unlimited options. I can build my own if I like. > Well MS sure does, thus their crappy flop of an iPod knockoff and the > Xbox. The thing is, this isn't an OS battle, it's a product battle of > which the OS is a part. Apple controls the install because they want > to control the product. Which is why I don't like it. I want to change the graphics card out in a couple of years. I've had the same case and one of the same monitors for nearly 6 years now. I like the case; I upgrade things I want to. I don't want to be forced in to buying a complete new package every time I want to upgrade some hardware. Apple won't let me do that. > A Mac's value isn't just the cutting edge GUI; it's the GUI and the > ease of use wrapped up in a super slick package. Your point is kind > of like saying that Apple should let people install iPod software on > any MP3 player; wouldn't make any sense. See that isn't of value to me. The GUI is ok, it doesn't blow me away, but then again I don't buy it for the GUI. The GUI itself is fairly low on the list. I'm more concerned about the applications I can run on it. In looking at my desktop at home, the only thing that I could run on the Mac that I currently have installed is the Adobe suite. Last I checked the Adobe Suite sucked on the Mac from a performance standpoint. I don't know if they have released an Intel Optimized Adobe suite for the Mac yet. I couldn't play games, or run 95% of the apps that I run at home. Why would I spend the money for a Mac just run boot camp and be in windows 99% of the time? > It's also, btw, why VW/Audi isn't licensing their DSG transmission > technology. Pretty good example, something most people don't care about, costs more, but makes them feel cool. I wouldn't buy a car with that, it is another example of why do I need that? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Upgrade to Adobe ColdFusion MX7 Experience Flex 2 & MX7 integration & create powerful cross-platform RIAs http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/flex2/ Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:228880 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
