IMNSHO - hate speech != disgusting or offensive speech.

I mean, isn't hate speech supposed to be race related? I guess I just
have a problem with this whole hate sppech/hate crime culture.

I mean, I know SHARPs that have been charged with hate crimes simply
because they were skins. Made no difference that they were anti-racist.
Just they were white and bald headed, and the victim was other than
white. No matter what the motivation or situation was.

I don't know how we can add additional years to a persons penalty. Why
is one motivation worse than another?

Why am I a better criminal for killing someone over money, than I am if
I kill someone over politics? Shouldn't we treat them the same?

Well, I could see the nature of the universe and big bang vs creationism
coming up in a discussion on limits (via event horizons)... but you are
correct, that remark was really meant for classes in the
English/sociology spectrum.

As for hate speech, yes, there is a line, which was the gist of my story
in the other thread -- that whole experience came pretty close imho. But
it also illustrates my point here -- in practice, it is extremely
difficult to balance out the competing rights.
