Evolution doesn't answer the question of creation, only the changes in
life over time.

You can easily believe in both, but you still have to have a theory
about the creation of the universe and the world. Evolution doesn't deal
with that, and so these numbers don't mean anything because they don't
ask the right questions.

To start,
http://www.livescience.com/health/060810_evo_rank.html illustrates how
bad the US is on acceptance of evolution, see also
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/08/31/national/31religion.html?ex=1283140800
&en=1ca44f3c9718912e&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss, The
accompanying graphic tells an even starker message:
http://www.livescience.com/images/060810_evo_rank_02.jpg. Only Turkey
had a lower percentage of the population endorsing the Theory of
Evolution.

According to the Pew Trusts, a very strong majority (>70%) of
Republicans surveyed endorsed creationism,
http://pewforum.org/docs/index.php?DocID=115 while over 2/3rds want it
taught in the public schools. And this percentage was even greater with
the current crop of republican presidential candidatates,
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/05/04/AR200705
0402076_2.html.

Do you want me to go on? I haven't touched on the creationism
endorsement in the republican party platforms for each republican party
by each state (over 60%), or the statements supporting creationism of
various republican candidates from the last election. But I've think
I've proved my point.
