I agree - ideally you give management all the facts so that they can
make good decisions.  If you don't, then the company can tank which
will ruin everyone's day.

OTOH, if mistakes are punitive then you should look for a new job or
at least bring this issue to management because likely they're not
make good decisions anyway.
