Yes...but in this case, it's not a request for any professional development work. I'm well-versed in keeping those consultations to a reasonable level. This is specifically sales questions about what my product does. > +) Refer constantly to the public marketing materials: don't >re-answer questions answered in those materials. This assumes that the >public materials are relatively complete - if they're not then you should >expect lots of questions. ;^) Most of the rest of what you wrote really doesn't apply in this situation. This is just someone wanting a *lot* of detail about what my product does, how it is written, tested, etc. before buying it. While I do have a pretty comprehensive list of features on my site, he's wanting a level of detail that goes well beyond what is typical. If I put that much detail on my public site, it would greatly overwhelm most people (my list of features alone is pretty daunting to many). Customers like this also have a tendency to ask me about every feature they want that is *not* on the list...maybe thinking I just forgot to list it? I'd need a separate list of features that the product does *not* have to deal with that. I considered just sending him the full documentation on the product which is usually only provided after sale (since it has a lot of what I consider proprietary information) but I was concerned that just would lead to even more questions. I haven't received any more emails yet today but I am thinking that might be the way to go, in return for him agreeing to not ask any more questions until he has purchased the software. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Create robust enterprise, web RIAs.
