(1.) Energy.  One of government's primary roles is to protect the
nation; energy independence is a key defense initiative.

As such, the government should be planning to bring us towards energy
independence by incenting conservation of the imported energy we
currently consume while concurrently driving us towards a new source

(2.) Global Warming.  While far from proven it's a risk that Big
Insurance feels is large enough to impact rates for.  That means it's
a risk to US security, at least based on actuarial calculations.

Therefore the government, in it's role of protecting its population,
should take action to mitigate the risk.

If you feel no such risk is possible, then you should pursue that
agenda.  However I would offer that saying it doesn't exist is as
accurate as saying it does.
