The US has the lowest taxes and gets the most from what little taxes we pay than any other industrialized nation. When the vast majority of the recent tax cuts (over 50%) is going to the wealthiest part of the population - about 1% - there's a problem of balance here.
As for the faith based initiatives, I find it very interesting that those religious groups that want to belly up to the feeding trough, also don't want any restrictions on the money. Why should my tax dollars go to a fundie group just so that they can preach to homeless people. Why should we give these fanatics our tax money so that they can be immune from the equal employment laws? If they accept federal money, to which I am completely opposed, then they should have to comply with federal guidelines. -- Larry C.
