We were already in the recession. The National Bureau of Economic Research declared
that the recession had begun in March of last year. I'm not sure if that means that
it was the first sign of the gdp contracting for two consecutive quarters, or if gdp
had already contracted for two consecutive quarters. Either way, we are showing signs
of coming out of it which is short for a recession. Traditionally a recession lasts
about 18 mos.

We were going into a recession *before* the war started.
