This has been an interesting thread for me to read. I'm always debating switching to satellite, but out here in the boonies, there's no DSL so cable internet is really my only decent broadband choice. The extra costs for that if I don't have a cable TV subscription always make up any difference in savings I would have. As much as it rains and snows here, outages with satellite are fairly common as well. So while I've had my ups and downs with Comcast, I kind of am stuck with them for the moment at least. Longer I guess, I just upgraded to a Tivo HD box with lifetime membership so guess I'm in for the long haul. Of course, I then get the yearly "higher fees" letter from Comcast so have to again figure out how much less I am saving by sticking with them than the previous year. At least the tech that came out to install my CableCard was knowledgeable enough to know how to do that and got the Tivo up and running without a hitch.
Ditching the home phone is the other thing I've been considering for awhile now. The main reason I've kept it is that I work from home and prefer not to have to carry a phone from room to room with me....and it's so easy to deal with incoming and outgoing faxes with a dedicated fax machine on my phone line. But is convenience worth $40+ a month? Probably not. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Get involved in the latest ColdFusion discussions, product development sharing, and articles on the Adobe Labs wiki. http://labs/adobe.com/wiki/index.php/ColdFusion_8 Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/message.cfm/messageid:245274 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/CF-Community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
