No, I thnik you are wrong. In Albuquerque at least it really not about race; it's about language if anything. I have been told that I do not see certain things because I am female, ie it is not macho to front me, but even if that is true, the divide in the city is *still* on Spanish vs English.
And before anyone starts on immigration let's remember that there have been Spanish speakers here for three hundred years.
