I live a semi-metropolitan area (Scranton's not real big... but it's big enough) and cable is much faster than DSL. I switched for a week when we went from Cable TV to DirectTV and ended up going right back. I was getting 1.5 Mbps on the dot from Verizon and it seemed slooooooooooow. I average about 7 Mbps at Comcast. Although admittedly it does cost twice as much.
