Well, After ~2months the car has finally broken in. Took around 3000
miles, but the results are pretty remarkable. Initially, for the first 4
tanks of gas, I was averaging around 48 MPG, which isn't bad, but its
certainly not as good as you can get.

Now that the break in period has passed (and there is a noticible break-in
period) I'm averaging about 54 MPG and that includes a 60/40 highway/surface
street mix of driving. The highway driving is a lot of slow and go/stop and
go type of congested driving. Now this also allows for a break-in period
for the driver. I find that I'm now driving like all the little old
grannies out there on the road... Slow and steady. That's also what will
get you the best fuel economy. While it's not a sports car, it does have
decent punch off the starting line thanks to the incredible amount of torque
the eletric motor delivers.

As far as cockpit features, the smart key is really cool. You never have to
take your keys out of your pocket to unlock the door(s), start the car, etc.
As far as packages go, I got the basic package #2 which doesn't include the
premium sound, hands-free bluetooth integration, or the navigation system.
But, everything I've heard about them is they are pretty good when compared
to other makes and models. Basic stereo is ok, but a little flat in the
bass, and loses range on the mids. It does have good crisp treble though.

All in all I'm absolutely thrilled with the car. It really is the "geeks"
car if ever there was one. I'm not in it so much for the "green" aspect as
I am for the technology factor and, of course, saving money on gas. This
last tank, I'm not quite out of fuel and I have put 480 miles on it. The
last fillup was around 9 gallons (I rarely get more than 9 gallons into the
goofy bladder/gas tank the Prius has). If you are interested in hearing
from some of the more zealous prius owners, you should check out
http://priuschat.com/forums. There are some pretty nutty folks there, but
an absolute wealth of knowledge about this car (along with a number of
Toyota certified techs that answer the more technical questions).

You should really give one a test drive!!!

Cheers,

So Jeff, how 'bout a review now that you've had the car 2 months give or
take a couple days. MPG would be most appreciated too.

You see I really have to tell you
That it all gets so intense
 From my experience
It just doesnt seem to make sense
Still...you turn me on
