I've heard a lot of arguments for diesel/biodiesel and they are compelling,
for some areas like Europe. Lets face it, the diesel engine is just not
that widely accepted here in the states. Not to mention the outrageous CAFÉ
standards that make it near impossible to even sell diesel vehicles in some
states (ahem... California).

The really "greenies" abhor the burning of anything for fuel and would
rather see electric cars being charged by solar, wind or hydro generated
electricity. Personally, my preference would be to have a fully electric
"commuter" vehicle that I drive to work everyday and a hybrid that can make
the longer trips. I personally do not care whether it runs on gas, diesel,
pot, reconstituted turds or dilithim crystals... Just as long as it's cheap.

With diesel you can move the entire industry to biofuels; the vehicles don't
require caustic batteries or electric engines to design and manufacture and
the technology has been around and perfected for 100 years.

That's what I just don't get about electric cars. We don't need to design
whole new engine and battery technologies to move a car. Why waste the
energy? We know how to move the car. The problem isn't engine technology,
it's the fuel. Fix the fuel and don't need electric.

So why not just use the technology distribution systems we already have?
