Beth, I gotta argue with you on this one. I grew up in Southh Philadelphia - a cheesesteak just aint a cheesesteak without grilled onions...and you generally do get them if you don't specify that you don't want them.....at least in all the real steak shops.

Since I'm in CA not PA they call it a Philly Cheesesteak here. The cheesesteak shop I patronize when I want to feel my arteries close up fast takes real steaks and beats them up on the grill with spatulas. They ask if you want onions, or hot and/or sweet peppers. -Ben > -----Original Message----- > From: BethF [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Tuesday, March 26, 2002 12:49 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: Re: Food warning > > > In philly a cheesesteak is ONE WORD, doesn't have the prefix > PHILLY and has > NO green peppers or onions on it, unless you specify them. > And steakums are not even close to the right meat. > > Never ate a lean pocket, but i am SURE it sucks as a cheesesteak. > > --Beth, Pseudo usenet cop > Merlin MTB, BikeE AT, RANS gliss, Trek R200, Kickbike > Owned by Kavik (Samoyed Boy) and Toklat (Keeshond Boy) > Anchorage, Alaska > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Braver, Ben" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Tuesday, March 26, 2002 11:28 AM > Subject: Food warning > > > > If you have ever had a real Philly Cheese Steak (whether in > Philly or > > somewhere else), do *not* make the mistake of getting Lean > Pockets "Philly > > Cheese Steak" flavor.
