When I heard that Jeremy Wright was doing the talk-show circuit, I thought
that this cannot be a good thing for Obama. I don't think that it's such a
big secret that African Americans entertain some conspiracy theories that
sound nuts to the average white person - like the idea that George W. Bush
ordered the levees in New Orleans to be blown up, or the idea that whites
are systematically poisoning the black community under the guise of Church's
Chicken (you don't see them in white areas, do you?).

Either way, any mainstream media coverage of these things will hurt Obama,
even if he distances himself from Wright.

The question really is should we be criticizing candidates for things said
by their associations?

That is, if I shop at Wal-Mart and go to the same checkout person every
weekend just to chat, should anything they say be portrayed as if I said it?

Only a moron would say yes.

The only question for Obama should be, "hey, you agree with that dude?" If
the answer is no, then we should all move on.

The reality is that people are going to continue to bring up these
ridiculous distractions, but it reveals the character of those that do.
