I wish we could do that with these clients.....but sadly for our small agency, we have to keep them sweet. It can be done, but it's going to be hard work!! The only concern I have is that the next thing will be that they'll want to know why they have paid for 3 months work when it's only taken 6 weeks!!! Just had a similar experience. Landed a new client and are redoing their site and adding a lot more functionality to it. It's about a 3-4 week job. They signed off on it last Wednesday and called Tuesday asking why the site wasn't up yet! The account manager said the guy started screaming at her but she told him to look at the contract he signed an the launch date was middle of April. She said you could hear him feeling stupid on the phone!! Agggghhhhhhhh, I hate clients. Why are they so annoying?? We have a client who we are doing a major build for, lots of technical stuff, loads of dynamic content. They've messed about signing off the design and the contracts (taken 10 weeks to do this), and now want a 3 month build finished in 6 weeks!!!! No negotiation, no choice. They are worth a LOT of money to us, so we just have to bite the bullet and do the work. SO it's goodbye holiday, goodbye Easter weekend, goodbye life. Damn It!!!!
