If we were talking Ar Ramadi I could see it, but the Kurds don't mess around with those AQ cats.
Thats why a few SF teams and a single brigade (173rd Airborne) was able to hold the entire section of the country. I'm going to go call a buddy in 3rd group and try and get numbers on the increase, but truth be told, most of the SF guys I know are already pissed off about the SF recruiting program (called the 18 x-ray program). It takes kids off the street and sends them to infantry school, airborne school and then whats called sopc (special operations preparation course). Basically it's a course that teaches cherries how to pass selection. It's BS, totally throws off the amount of soldiers selected, then they have a really difficult time in the Q course. The thing is SF traditionally had to be a SPC (E-4) at a minimum. That meant the soldiers attending selection had been in the Army a minimum of 2 years, they understood tactics and techniques at a much higher level than anyone can be expected to after just a few months in the military. Sorry if I seem to be going off about this process, but getting that tab is my highest goal in life. I'm still having a hard time getting back in, and when I do I know it'll be a year at least until I can attend selection. That will put me at 35, not a problem as I see it, but still. Hell I know a guy thats 42 that just got selected, he was an SFC/E-7. This isn't a game for kids. The maturity level just isn't there.
