On the surface that would seem to be logical, but here's why it's not:

(1.) The US, with it's market model, is the leader in technical and
medical innovation.  Other countries ride our coattails.  UHC would
put an end to that.

(2.) From a "greenfield" perspective anything is possible -
transitioning US healthcare, however, is not greenfield.  We'd have to
*transition* from a rich doctor scenario to a UHC scenario.  Which
countries have done that on a scale the US would have to?

(3.) What will citizens say when rich people start going to the
inevitable medical black market for cutting edge treatments they can't
get?

So comparing other countries to the US is not an apples-to-apples
comparison.  In many ways it's like saying that the bus driver can
look back and see all the other passengers riding safely and happily,
therefore he can go an sit back there with them and expect the same
experience.  Logical on the surface, but it ignores a few key facts.
