In Obama vs. McCain, the public may end up deciding which is the lesser evil, condescension or being out of touch. If leadership is important, then we can stomach condescension. If being able to see the candidate as my beer buddy is important, then being out of touch is okay. (as long as he doesn't throw up in my car!) :)
