I think you missed the point, I don't think that Michael was saying that America is beyond our racial problems in the past.... I'm a white male and I can can tell you that we're so not beyond it it's ridiculous. I think that what Michael is trying to say is that the anti discrimination laws in the US are not applied with an even hand...
Michael is Jewish, in some parts of US anti-discrimination legislation, he's a minority and is covered, in other parts because his skin is white, he's not. That's a real disparity. What saddens me is that we're in the 21st century and we haven't progressed far enough to no longer need this kind of legislation. And Gel, I do take some offense to this "then racist White 'Christian' Males in the majority would keep them out and keep them down", I'm a white male and I'm by no means racist, the people that you speak of are a vocal minority in the US, who unfortunately have the ears of power at the moment. I'm assuming that racism is alive and well in Trinidad also?
