And that's ok, really. A president can "want" their SC nominees to have a certain view and see things a certain way, but, there is a Senate that must be navigated before the nomination can proceed. Hence my liking the two branches to be opposed philosophically. With a McCain Administration and a Reid Senate, it will force compromises. I think that with McCain, he will be more willing to work across the isle with Democrats when it comes up...
Again, I shudder to think of the damage that will happen to this country with Obama as a rubberstamp surrogate for Reid and Pelosi... -----Original Message----- From: Maureen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, October 13, 2008 8:06 PM To: cf-community Subject: Re: on a high toned note On Mon, Oct 13, 2008 at 7:00 PM, Jeff Garza <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > The right for a woman to get an abortion won't go away, though it > might encounter some additional "regulation" with a more conservative court. >From John McCain's website: Human Dignity and the Sanctity of Life Overturning Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench.
