Mikey D - we be friends here, dude. ya not be starting a fight with me and I respect you tremendously
remember I grew up 'way out in the boonies of the Diaspora (in a galaxy far far away) Interesting comment about the "drift". My son is currently "away" because he's questioning the religion part (age 21). He still identifies as a Jew, but it not sure how he feels about God right now. (Hey, I'm a lot lot older and not sure how I feel sometimes!) My daughter seems to feel like she drifted a little too far away and has drifted back a bit (age 19). In my case, my grandparents kept Kosher (but I didn't know that). I never met 3 of my 4 grandparents. My parents had nothing whatsoever to do with "the faith" other than weddings, funerals, traditional holiday foods. I got connected because of my kids. Tried to pass on a solid foundation to them - belief in God, morals, how to live your life. Feel they have become decent, honorable people. Hope that a seed has been planted which will sprout as they get a little older. But it's up to them. -Ben > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Monday, April 08, 2002 11:47 AM > To: CF-Community > Subject: RE: Egypt: Land of the Gods > > > I really (really really) hate to say this but in many cases > (well over 50%) the children of reform families drift away > from the faith. > As for who's a Jew, if you were born of a Jewish mother then > the orthodox accept you as a Jew no matter what your level of > practice.
