Look, I think it is a perfectly valid deciding factor to vote for Obama over
McCain. It's not as though the Democratic Party picked up some kid at the
local high school and nominated him for President; Obama has qualifications,
and he won the primary through a shrewd and effective campaign strategy.
Let's give the guy his due.

Having said all that, I would much prefer that the change come later, at a
time when we are not facing so many difficult challenges and the candiadate
is not a liberal Democratic rookie. I know plenty of savvy Democrats who
supported Hillary and are now split on whether to vote for Obama or McCain
on the basis of experience. If Hillary were the nominee, she would be up
15-20 points and the race would be over. Forty percent of the country might
hate her, but everyone else would vote for her.

Obama hasn't closed the deal because people have no idea what he is actually
going to do if he wins. I think he may well end up another Jimmy Carter. I
hope like hell he doesn't, but the circumstances are such that he could fail
miserably.
