But it does.  Here's why:

Your point is essentially that people should be able to vote on
whether we suppress another's rights.  That's tyranny of the majority
by definition.  Look it up in any Oxford dictionary.

But if you'd like softer example:

If it's ok for a majority of people to vote away someone's choice of
marriage partner, on principle it would also be ok for a majority to
vote away a citizen's travel rights.

So Newfies are nuts right?  So how about if the majority of Canada
voted that Newfies couldn't FLY to cities in Canada.  They could
drive, but not fly.

So it's not that they can't travel, they just by law can't travel by
air because they're Newfies.

By you principle, that'd be just fine.
