I got in my car and started driving to the gym. that's when I saw the plume of smoke. Planes from Miramar regularly fly right along the canyon behind my house on the way back to Miramar. One of the guys at the Starbucks said he heard the plane go overhead, heard a thump, then nothing, like the engine just shut off.
