I don't think it is..... While it's never happened to me. because honestly except in context like this I've never said it (and I would hope you're not reading anything into my commentary) ... I have however commented many times on my pride in my Scottish heritage, you don't see things like "White Entertainment Television", "The National Association for the Advancement of White People", in short organizations specifically catering to a specific race be it Latino, Asian, Native American or African American.
I'm a firm believer in a level playing field, that things like race, religion, age, sex, politics, or sexual orientation have no place in determining who gets what opportunities, jobs, money, rights or pride. Having said all this, there is a difference between black culture and other races in the US, all the people that I know that are Latino, or Asian, or Arab, or Native American, know where they came from. They can tell you, "I'm El Salvadoran" , "I'm Korean" , "I'm Saudi" or "I'm Lakota", I don't know of too many African Americans who know where their families came from *through no fault of their own, the records in many cases weren't kept beyond the slave trader that brought them in.* The particular culture springs from the country of origin.
