If they pay taxes like everyone else.  Which churches don't.

It's just so obvious that we need to renew our national commitment to
separate church and state by divorcing marriage from civil unions.

Any 2 adults or sound mind should have the right to enter into a civil
union.  If they want to toss some church certification on top of that
- called "marriage" - go for it.

And if the church wants to be a private club and pay taxes then they
can keep out whomever they like.
