Have you ever been swimming at a beach?  You want to talk about not 
knowing what's in the water!  All those fish pooping in it all the 
time...  But, the same principle applies.  Usually those swimming pools 
are large enough and treated with enough chemicals to dilute and 
neutralize anything that ends up in them.  As long as you're not 
swimming with open sores (which you shouldn't do anyway) and not 
drinking the water you should be fine.
