but see... what it looks like is that this guy cannot be prosecuted
because he was tortured. Bravo to all the Jack Bauer wannabes.

Beyond the practicalities, you don't have to have sympathy for the
guy. I suspect few people do. But if it's ok to knock his teeth out
when is it not ok? We haven't had a trial after all and before you
scoff, let's remember Jose Padilla, who was supposedly such a bad guy,
plotting to release a dirty bomb; in the end the never even charged
him with this. So if it is ok to knock people's teeth out when they
are accused of slaughter, is it ok to knock people's teeth out when
they are accused of let's say negligently causing many deaths? What
about accused serial murderers, can we kick their teeth in? What about
people who are accused of these things but not by someone you consider
an authority figure?

Perhaps you see my point.
