If I did not have health insurance I could pay for myself and I purposely stuck a fork into an electrical socket, knowing that it would harm me, do you really think that the tax payers of this country should bear the burden of my stupidity? I am not advocating killing the handicapped, merely suggesting that we should not support the result of dangerous behavior that some people in this country willingly choose to engage in.
I am not saying that we don't help anyone, but help those who want to help themselves. An emphysema patient who continues to smoke would not be someone who wants to help themselves, in my opinion. I am no more like a Nazi for thinking this than someone is baby killer for supporting a women's right to choose to have an abortion. I know that the liberal in you cannot understand this, but, people should be held accountable for their actions. Unfortunately, the bleeding heart liberals in this country have fostered an atmosphere that when something happens to someone, its always someone else's fault. We have become a country of whiny little bitches always blaming someone else for our lot in life and looking for someone to pay for it. I think its time people took a page out of our president's book and man-up for what is our fault, and stop looking to not only blame someone else, but to cash in as well.
