I think you can recognize it as being a good step forward while also
bringing the smackdown on people that set up rules and don't follow
them. I liken it to the discussion of the Geneva Convention. We might
be able to find some legalistic way of getting out of the requirements
when dealing with people who aren't part of a recognized national
army. But we shouldn't. Why? Because we are the United States of
America and we should be above that kind of crap. I want us to set an
example and not resort to legalistic parsing of language when it comes
to important fundamental issues. I fell the same way about Obama. He
wants us to rise above the pettiness of politics and government and
believe that government can be a solution not a problem. That's great.
I want to believe that too. Now its up to him to man up and do it.
