First, I apologize in advance if this email jumps around. My thoughts
jump around sometimes. LOL

The big difference here is that while your average Christians who adhere
to the bible, mainly adhere to the parts that allow someone to live a
Godly, moral life, not a life of violence. Over here, one of the
responsibilities of ALL Muslims, according to the Prophet Mohamed is
that they are supposed to actively convert non-Muslims to Islam.
According to Mohamed, we are all infidels. We are not even allowed to
walk into their mosques because we are not Muslim. But, in the US, a
Muslim, Jew, Catholic, Mormon, Hindu, Bhuddist or even an Atheist can
walk into any church in the US, regardless of denomination or level of
belief, and usually be welcome with open arms.
Also, the least violent areas of this country are the Kurdish and
Christian areas here in the North. The Sunni and Shiah areas are still
the most violent. And over here, there is open religious discrimination
of the three major religious factions here. Sure in the US, a Baptist
will say they are better than a Catholic for whatever reason, but in
typically we are not killing each other over this. Over here, they are.
I have had the opportunity to speak with many Iraqi's of Christian,
Kurdish and Muslim faith, and again the most violent ones are the
Muslims. Christian and Kurdish areas are so safe now, you can almost
walk around the villages without protective gear - almost. Here in
Mosul, it is totally different. We do not like to even stop our truck
for longer than about 10-15 minutes for fear of a VBID. I have not met a
single Muslim who has not at some point in our conversation not talk of
violence in some way. I have even heard Muslim's say that they wanted to
kill so and so just because they jumped in front of them at the gas
pump. Really? Kill someone over some gas? Wow.
Anyway, yeah, Christians have done some heinous things in the past all
in the name of God, but these people still do heinous things in the name
of Allah. These people are so honor bound, they will kill to protect
that honor. Hence the stoning of a daughter who participated in a sexual
relationship before she was married. Oh, the the really funny part is,
although the man is also supposed to be stoned, generally he will not.
The way they see it, the woman tempted him. Shw should not have done
that because men here are not responsible for controlling their urges.
And the hypocrisies here are almost laughable. One of my terps was
telling me how he would have sex while in University in Baghdad. When I
asked about how they can get away with that when the woman is supposed
to be a virgin when she is married, he said they have anal. So
apparently, doing someone in the ass before they are married be OK here.
To them it is not really having sex (insert Clinton joke here). But,
again, if someone her her family finds out about this, she is done.

So yeah, I personally think it is far to say that in general, Islam is a
violent religion.
