Yeah, but in this area, people seem more violent than in other places I have lived (and I have lived all over the world). And as much as the anti-war zealots would like to, you cannot blame the war for the violence here. It has been going on for centuries. One of my term papers was on the history of civilization from the prehistoric times through the renaissance, and unless history books are wrong, this region has been hot bed of violence in that time. Iraq even has the honor of being the most conquered country in the middle east. When I talk to these folks here, I do not just talk about the last six years, I talk about when they were kids and when their parents were kids. Violence seems to be a way of life for these people. And I suspect that when we are long gone from here, violence will still go on. The only reason that you do not hear about it so much before we arrived is because Saddam had censored their news. Everything was printed and broadcast to show Iraq as a wonderful utopia, and Saddam was loved and respected by the masses. So now he is gone, and the truth is being revealed. And you must be misunderstanding what I was saying. I am not trying to say ALL Muslims are a violent lot, just the ones here. I know many Muslims back home who are wonderful people to be around, friends and co-workers alike. So yeah, I know that they are not ALL violent. Just as not ALL Protestants and Catholics are not violent.
