haven't really studied the issue and IANAL. I'm not a constitutional scholar either. However, I've heard plausible arguments the last few days that this is a bill of attainder, and retroactive taxation does not pass the smell test.
That said, you guys can have all the fun you want blaming the president for it... he didnt have the idea and it doesn't look like he plans to sign off on it.
