I don't know what you want.  You have experienced some of the worst of 
unionization.  I will readily admit there are bad unions.  But I believe 
there are also good unions and bad unions still sometimes do good things 
and good unions often do some things that piss off lots of their 
members.  It's a group of people trying to work together with all the 
pitfalls and frailties of any other group of people trying to work together.

But I'm never going to buy the 'Union = Evil' any more then I am going 
to buy 'Union = Sainthood' it just is not a black and white, simple 
dichotomy.  It is a huge, messy, mixed up hog-mash of things.  I just 
don't see any good that can be done by not recognizing the complexities 
and trying to make demonize or sanctify Unions.
