That sounds eerily familiar. My wife sat in the hospital for over 36 hours before they realized what that problem actually was. By the time she got to surgery, she had over a liter of blood in her abdominal cavity. To make things worse, this all happened at a hospital where we both worked.
Make sure you guys get some 'down time' and take some time to grieve. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
