Oh man, you don't even want to get me started! When I called the OB triage line, and told them my wife had passed out, was having chest pains and couldn't feel her legs much, they actually said they thought it was a panic attack, and seemed nonplussed by the idea of me bringing her in (guess it was a "code black" day, lots of emergencies... but still. You don't screw around with crap like that, specially with a preggers woman.).
Then the paramedics spent 10 minutes saying they thought she was just dehydrated. The reason they couldn't get a good blood-pressure reading was the cuff wasn't on good, etc.. Finally they tried sitting her up, and she passed out again. After that, they realized it wasn't the cuff. :-P Luckily we live literally 3 blocks from the hospital, so things moved pretty fast from there on out. I tell you what tho, after being back on the hospital scene, as it were, I'm pushing hard for better health care, and harder for better health care software. Seen from a programmer's eyes, the whole deal is highly inefficient. Institutions are institutions, across the board, neh? I haven't seen the bill yet, but *cringe* it's gonna be a whopper. I could see things like this just wrecking folks in the perfect bracket (making too much for the "free" stuff, but too little to actually afford the procedures-- a good percentage of people, I reckon, are in that bracket). The whole deal has been quite the adventure, which I guess about sums it up. :-)p Denny -- You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to you. -Heraclitus On Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 12:01 PM, Scott Stroz wrote: > > That sounds eerily familiar.
