I have the same complaint - no dialup - when travelling. AT&T's explanation was that, unlike the prior @Home service I had before the bankruptcy, I now have free access to my email account from any web browser.
My question is, where am I going to find a web browser unless I have dial-up access? <sigh> Their answer to that was I could subscribe to the AT&T WorldNet dial-up service - in other words, pay for two separate services. Riiiiiiiight. -Ben > I was with BellSouth for over 3 years. Beta-customer. Bridged DSL. > Fast. 'dynamic IP' - changed 4 times in those 3 years. No ports > blocked.
