I should add that enjoy the healthcare debate with you and apologize for being a dick about it. It's just that I think you've lost the big picture: 1.) Patients need care 2.) Doctors charge bills that patients can't afford so patients sell risk 3.) Insurance companies buy profitable risk and make money by investing the premiums. If you look at that formula you might see something familiar: home loans. That collapsed. Next to collapse? College costs. * students need education * Colleges charge bills that students can't afford so students sell debt * Banks buy profitable debt and make money by charging interest If we simply eliminate all banks and turn over lending to the government will it stop escalating education costs?
