Comments like this sorta make me laugh, because it seems to imbue the
Scientific Method with "more".

As far as I can tell, scientific method is a tool, not an end.

Like, your Cotes quote: Do you think that those who produce a
hypotheses at "the end" are any less wedded to it than those who would
begin with one?

I think it could be argued that they'd be /more/ wedded, as, "just
/look/ at all the work it took to get here!" Neh? Is it the testable
hypothesis that matters, or that the hypothesis was formed, um,
unbiasedly? (I think it's the first, but then the end would justify
the means... dang that whole consequentialism/deontology deal! ("Show
your work"... what a concept!))

Eh. I like the Socratic Method. Questions are kewl. Where
philosophy and science cross paths... ah, a discussion for another
time.

Anyways, it's amazing how perception is linked to perspective (or
perhaps frame of reference? Now I'm muddying the water...). Toss in
things like the observer effect, and terms like "unbiased",
"objective", and "empirical" seem to take on a whole new light.

At least they did for me. Thar be some trippyness!, ya know? I mean,
it's not like we can just chalk quantum-stuff up to differences in
scale, and be done with it. Action at a distance? Perhaps not
spooky, but holy cow man! AWESOME!

Do we understand Time, & the nature of reality now? I think I missed
that issue of Science News.
We must be this [---] close to a unified field theory, neh? What,
using threads, or strings, or some such?
I think that's a pretty popular theory (hypothesis? hypothetical
theory? Eh.) these days, crazy as that stuff is-- or maybe not crazy
to a "real" scientist-- I dunno, I'm just a guy who likes to think
(sometimes not so critically).

Maybe I'm just using this tool (technique?) called the Scientific
Method incorrectly. 100% possible, and X% probable, even!

(Guess it wasn't a discussion for another time ;])

Eh. Maybe I like mystery too much. I dunno. I do know I have some
data to push tho, so: fare thee well, fellow space travelers!
